SUSSIA

95 religious families between the ages of 20-50 make their homes in this veteran Southern Hebron Hills community, working in the fields of electronics, agriculture, education and others.

Resident children are cared for and study in the community through elementary school. In fact, this area elementary school has been recognized with prizes from the Ministry of Education.

Girls and boys learn separately in junior high in the lovely building recently finished for their comfort.

For high school, students have a wide variety of educational institutions in the area and in the southern part of the country easily accessible to them. There is also a Yeshiva High School for boys which boasts a special focus on environmental and nature issues.

In addition to a very active and thriving branch of Bnei Akiva, youngsters participate in a wide variety of extracurricular activities including judo, music, drawing and Talmud Torah.

Men enjoy daily classes in Emuna, Mussar, Gemara and Halacha and three shiurim on Shabbat. Women participate in a full day of learning every Monday and a special shiur in the home of the community Rabbi, Rabbi Eliezer Altshuler. They are also invited to attend a weekly yoga class.

There is a central community synagogue, mikveh and separate minyan in the Yeshiva High School.

Community facilities include a swimming pool, library, grocery store and medical clinic.

Egged Line 51 travels from Beersheva and Kiryat Arba to Sussia five times daily.
