Beit Hagai is a Torah community village, located on the edge of the desert in The Southern Hebron Hills Region.Established in 1984 by graduates of the Kiryat Arba Yeshiva, the community is comprised of 70 families, most of whom are native-born Israelis. There is also a group of Anglo-Saxons among those making their home here. While most of the adults are professionals, there are many who learn Torah full time in neighboring Otniel Day care centers and kindergarten facilitiesare provided in the community but children from the age of 5 on learn in Kiryat Arba, a 10-minute drive away. Some high school students choose to study in Sussia or Otniel but the majority learn in Kiryat Arba Bnei Akivais the youth organization represented in Bet Hagai with separate groups for boys and girls There are varied extracurricular activities offered for children and adults according to the interest expressed at the beginning of the academic year Community facilitiesinclude a synagogue (one minyan during the week; two minyanim on Shabbatot to include nusach sephard and ashkanaz), mikve, Beit Midrash, Evening Kollel, library, grocery store and hall for events There are swimming pools in Kiryat Arba and Otniel with separate hours for men and women Directions:Beit Hagai is located on Highway 60 near Otniel and Kiryat Arba Travel time from Jerusalem is 35 minutes, from Beersheva 40 minutes and from Kiryat Gat 40 minutes |
